I’m so glad you’re here! Everyday Welcome is a place to share ideas for soulful living, hospitality and home-making.
It’s my hope that this blog will become a conversation, a place where we can come together to share ideas and inspiration for ways to be “salt and light,” using our homes to live out God’s love. Let’s share recipes that excite the palate and nourish the body. I’ll post decor and projects that help create a welcoming space, with the goal that creating will bring as much joy as sharing your creations with those you know. Sometimes, I’ll share thoughts on my heart that bring truth to the table, hoping that even our conversations can “spice up” our daily interactions.
We learn from Jesus that His “yoke is easy,” and His “burden is light,” so the ideas should be a springboard to excite your imagination, encouraging you to make what you have and where you live, into a creative outlet and a vehicle for blessing.
“You are the salt of the earth;
but if the salt has become tasteless,
how can it be made salty again?
It is no longer good for anything,
except to be thrown out
and trampled under foot by men.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
nor does anyone light a lamp
and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand,
and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light shine before men
in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father who is in heaven.”

In a world that’s often mixed-up and topsy-turvy, it’s easy to lose our inspiration, and even easier sometimes to lose sight of the Truth of purpose we have.
But when we open our hearts and welcome the One who made us, the God who calls us to come to Him for our purpose, our redemption, the filling of our empty souls and the quenching of our unending thirst,
we can find hope in the noise around us and the broken places within us.
In our workplaces, our social circles, and our homes (but especially, I think, in our homes),
we can bless others with warmth and welcome.
Instead of hurry, hurry, and strive-strive-for social-media-worthy-perfection, what if we slowed down, allowed our minds to get creative for a bit, and created intentional settings to offer grace, opening our doors and tables and ultimately, our hearts, to connect with the world around us on a smaller scale?
Whether you live in a small space or a grand abode, whether you love to cook or prefer to keep things simple, and whether you think you’re creative or not, you have an amazing ability to reflect the glorious light and the life-giving seasoning and preservation of your Papa.
